The world is crazy today with all the innovations, financial pressure, modern technology and societal concerns that surround us. November 2, 2016

In accordance with the bylaws of the Village Congregational Church, the VCC Church Committee will begin the process of appointing a Pastoral Search Committee. The committee will be responsible for preparing a Church Profile for presentation to interested ministerial candidates, interviewing such candidates and recommending to the Church a candidate for the position of Senior Minister.

The Church Committee envisions the search committee to consist of 7-9 Church members. The profile development and search process takes 6 months to 1 year to complete and usually requires a time commitment of 2-3 hours per week. We hope the membership of this committee will reflect the diversity of our congregation.

If you would like to serve on this committee, please email the church office at office@vccucc.org  before November 18. The Church Committee intends to name the search committee at our December meeting so the search process may formally begin in January 2017.

Boy Scout Troop #155

The Village Church has been pleased to be a charter to Boy Scout Troop #155 for 60+ years.

On Saturday, October 15, Boy Scouts and adult volunteers from Troop 155 collected food and cash donations to benefit the Peace of Bread Food Pantry in Northbridge.  Donations were accepted at both Shaws and Walmart in town.  The scouts collected 2,400 food items and $1,100 in cash for the pantry plus delivered the donations and stocked the shelves at Peace of Bread.  Community service is important to Troop 155.  This food drive happens twice per year for the pantry.

Troop 155 meets every Tuesday night at the VCC from 7:00 – 8:30.  Boys 11 and up in the church are welcome to come check out a meeting to see what Scouting is all about.

An Update from your Church Committee

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”

 Ecclesiastes 3:1

Our Church is entering a time of transition. Robert served as our Senior Minister for almost 15 years, which is about 3 times longer than the average tenure of someone in his position.  Robert has moved on and so must our Church.

The following is an overview of the steps your Church Committee has taken to provide services to you during this time of transition and the process that will be followed to select a new Senior Minister.

Aaron Serna has agreed to be our supply Minister. Aaron has led our worship services for the past 2 Sundays and will do so 3 times per month.  He will also be available at the Church   office on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to noon for those wishing to speak with him privately.

Pat Furber has agreed to serve as Minister of Visitation to serve the needs of our members who are unable to attend Church.  For those who need visitation, please contact the Church office or Pat directly at (508) 245-8989

Both Pat and Aaron are willing to conduct baptisms, weddings and funerals as needed.   They have also agreed to lead our traditional holiday services (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, etc.)

The parsonage is vacant but has been secured, will be checked regularly, and maintained as needed.

Our programs (Christian Education, Missions, Diaconate, Music, etc.) will continue to serve us and our community as they have in the past.

Vince Osterman has agreed to serve as Interim Moderator as we begin the Senior Minister search process.

The search process:

In accordance with our bylaws the Church Committee will appoint a Pastoral Search Committee to prepare a profile of the Church which will be presented to candidates interested in becoming our next Senior Minister.  We hope to appoint the committee in December so it is  operational in January 2017.

If anyone has any questions, please speak with any member of the Church Committee.

We have accomplished much in the 60 days since Robert announced his decision to move on.  There is much left to do. To all who have helped during our “transition time”, we thank you.

In Christ,

The VCC Church Committee

+It is our belief that the Village Church holds a special place to all who attend and we are asking you to help. Jesus is doing His work in the community through you and your contributions to the work of the Village Congregational Church. To continue with our mission we encourage every household to participate in the life-changing ministries of the Village Congregational Church by giving regularly, proportionately, and joyfully.

Our doors are always open!  During the summer months and harsh winter days when all may not be able to join us in worship each and every Sunday, the church is still here with open doors and still needs to operate.

We need your help and support by continuing to contribute an offering throughout the year.  Your financial contributions to our Church are our major source of income to pay for its day-to-day operations.  Therefore, we have made it easier and more convenient for all by offering on-line payments via PayPal.  You may even set your account up to make reoccurring payments to the church so you may continue to contribute when you are not in attendance.

community.
